Strategy

Three platforms. One balance sheet.

Private equity for the long-dated, concentrated positions; liquid strategies for balance and flexibility; permanent capital underneath both.

Three platforms

Private equity

Control and growth capital

The private equity platform takes meaningful positions in established and growing businesses, either as a controlling shareholder or as a growth partner alongside founders and management. The firm is comfortable across the ownership spectrum, from a significant minority with board representation to full ownership, and chooses the structure that fits the business rather than a house template.

Within that platform, Tao Capital concentrates on sectors it understands from the inside.

Technology Core

Software, infrastructure and applied technology businesses with recurring economics and a defensible position. The firm's principals have built and run technology operating companies themselves, and bring an operator's view of what scales and what does not.

Healthcare Core

Providers, services and enabling technology in a sector where demand is structural and long-dated. The firm favours businesses with regulatory maturity, evidence-based products and management teams that can build across Asian and international markets.

Sports Selected

Clubs, rights and the businesses around them. The firm has direct experience of building a sports organisation and its community, and of the long-horizon ownership that sport rewards.

Real estate Selected

Development and income-producing property where the firm can add value through structure and patience. Direct experience in property development informs both underwriting and execution.

Consumer retail Selected

Brands and retail businesses with loyal customers and clear unit economics, particularly those positioned for growth across Greater China and Asia.

Liquid strategies

Secondary platform

Through its secondary platform the firm deploys capital across liquid strategies. This gives Tao Capital a balance between long-dated private holdings and liquid, flexible exposure, and preserves the capacity to act quickly when a private opportunity arises.

The platform draws on the principals' background in onshore China trading — statistical arbitrage and relative value — and on more than fifteen years in financial markets.

Permanent capital

Structure and horizon

Tao Capital invests from its own balance sheet. There is no fund term and no external investor timetable. This lets the firm set the time horizon and structure for each investment on its merits, hold through cycles, and be a stable counterparty to the businesses it backs.

What we look for

Durable economics. Management that thinks like an owner. A reason the business will still matter in ten years. A structure in which our interests and management's are genuinely aligned.

What we do not do

We do not manage money for others, do not raise funds, and do not disclose individual holdings.
